HAPPY RELEASE DAY TONI ALEO!

INTRODUCING
RUSHING THE GOALnow-available-01Introduced in Toni Aleo’s Bellevue Bullies Series, it’s the Sinclair brothers’ big sister’s turn to find love in the next installment of the New York Times and USA Today best-selling series, the Assassins.
  lucy-01
Lucy Sinclair was no stranger to pain.
She grew up with three younger brothers, met a bad boy, got pregnant by him, married him, and then suffered through a nasty divorce from him. Pain. That was pain. To top it off, she even had to go through the heartbreaking divorce of her parents. Through it all, she survived. All she cared about was making sure her daughter was happy and taken care of. Despite an ex-husband hell-bent on ruining her life, she fought to overcome. She’s gotten to the point that she’s okay with being just okay. She never cared about herself because she never had the time. It was Angie and only Angie she focused on, but that all changed when Benji Paxton offered to help her daughter on the ice.
  benji-01
Benji knew the moment he saw Lucy, he’d never be the same. Especially when she came with the bundle of crazy that was her daughter. His heart wasn’t ready for them. After years spent sobering up and finding who he was without the alcohol, he never forgot he was being punished for not appreciating the love he had when he was younger. Because of his past, he had gotten used to being alone, a recluse, but even he had to admit it was getting old. He was lonely. Hockey wasn’t enough anymore. He wanted a family; he wanted his true love, and Lucy and Angie were just that.
  lost souls 2-01
Benji and Lucy were just two lost souls. Floating through life with no purpose. But finding each other gave them direction, a chance at a future.

MY REVIEW

Toni Aleo scores another winner in Rushing the Goal, which combines her Bellevue Bullies and her Assassins series in one awesome package. Lucy Sinclair is the sister of the leading hockey players on the Bullies team, who have all gone on to play in the NHL, while Benji is one of the leading defensemen for the Assassins. I’ve been waiting to get Lucy’s story, who got the raw deal when her husband got another girl pregnant and ditched her. She’s been through it all, and it’s a wonder she and her daughter Angie are still smiling throughout everything they’ve been through.

Benji is a tortured hero, a guy who’s gone through the loss of his family at a young age, and turned his tragedy into something positive by dealing with his alcoholism head on and maintaining sobriety for over ten years. Both Lucy and Benji are damaged, but together they find strength they didn’t know they had. It was amazing to watch them their growth, and Angie stole my heart as much as she did Benji’s. I love this story, and if you’ve never read a Toni Aleo book you need to, because if not you are seriously missing out!

Then I met Diesel.
Mysterious, dark, with eyes that screamed to be understood.

HAPPY RELEASE DAY SAWYER BENNETT!

Title: Hawke
Series: Carolina Cold Fury Hockey #5
Author: Sawyer Bennett
Publisher: Loveswept
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 15, 2016

Blurb

The New York Times bestselling hockey series featuring the Carolina Cold Fury continues as the team’s most notorious party animal gets blindsided by the one that got away.

Off the ice, elite defenseman Hawke Therrien enjoys his fair share of booze and good times. And why shouldn’t he? He’s worked his way up from the minor leagues and made himself a star. The only thing Hawke misses from that life is the pierced, tattooed free spirit who broke his heart without so much as an explanation. She’s almost unrecognizable when she walks back into his life seven years later—except for the look in her eyes that feels like a punch to the gut.

Vale Campbell isn’t the same girl she was at twenty. As crazy as she was about Hawke, her reckless behavior and out-of-control drinking were starting to scare her. She had to clean up her act, and that would never happen with Hawke around. Cutting him loose was the hardest thing Vale ever had to do—until now. Because she’s still crazy about Hawke. And if he could ever learn to forgive her, they just might have a future together.

MY REVIEW

A second chance romance with a sports twist is what happens when you get with Hawke by Sawyer Bennett. Hawke Therrien is a new defenseman for the Carolina Cold Fury, having become one of the best in the league. He gets a blast from the past in the new trainer, Vale Campbell, his high school sweetheart and the one he believed he would spend the rest of his life with. Their chemistry is just as explosive as it was before, but their old wounds from the past keep them from reconnecting.

Hawke was a complete alpha with a softer side, and his care with both Vale and her father made me wish he was real life. Although it’s alluded to the fact he’s the life of the party it isn’t really shown throughout the book, but this doesn’t take away from the story. Vale was a bit prickly, but when you read her back story it makes it more understandable. Loved watching these two lovers reconnect and see how they rebuild old relationships with friends. Would recommend this book if you are looking for a good standalone sports romance.

WHISKEY NEAT BY LANI LYNN VALE RELEASE BLITZ AND REVIEW!

Title: Whiskey Neat

Author: Lani Lynn Vale
Genre: MC Romance
Release Date: March 3, 2016 Photographer: Furious Fotog Cover Model: Chase Ketron

Retaliation, revenge and rage fuels him. His MC, The Uncertain Saint’s, do their best to offer support, but Griffin is beyond redemption. He’ll do what he has to do. Kill who he has to kill.
He doesn’t care if that means he dies. If it gets him what he wants, then it’s worth it.
He fakes it all until the night he walks into a sex shop for batteries and lays eyes on a woman that will change his life.
Lenore makes him think past tomorrow. Makes him want to see just what the future might bring.
But his life’s a dangerous one built around pain and deception, and not for the faint of heart.
He won’t give up the past, not until he’s done what he promised to do.
And if that means she’s not there when the dust settles, he’ll risk it.
Lenore, though, won’t give up on him. She’ll fix him, whether he wants her to or not.

Whiskey Neat by Lani Lynn Vale starts a new series featuring the Uncertain Saints MC. Griffin is the star of this book, and he’s a man wracked with pain after his ex-wife puts his son in danger. The prologue will break your heart, and he’s gone through more things that would make a lesser man fall. Lenore has gone through her own problems, but she seems to be able to soothe the hurt Griffin can’t get away from.

This was an interesting concept, and something Lani Lynn Vale seems to do well. She has more of a soft grittiness for the MC while producing heroes that are public services. Griffin is the ultimate protector, and even though I was initially put off by how he handled Lenore he quickly made it right. The main premise of this story is the mystery surrounding the incidents of Griffin’s backstory and how he deals with the information he discovers. There is a bit mystery, great secondary characters, and plenty of sexy time. The only issue was that the story seemed a bit choppy at times, and there seemed to be some scenes were repeated or left out which distracted from the story.

“Come on, Doogan,” I urged, giving his collar a tug.
Doogan didn’t budge, which was why I had a front row seat as a man sailed over the railing of Mr. Marshall’s porch, and landed about ten feet away from where I was standing.
“Oh, my God,” I breathed.
I didn’t move, though, because the man was suddenly surrounded.
Men in leather were everywhere…but the one man that held my attention was stomping down the porch steps and heading straight to the man on the ground.
Griffin, the man who’d bought batteries from me just two days ago, was well and truly pissed.
When his eyes swung to me, I didn’t know what to do.
Should I run?
Stay where I was?
Question after question barreled through my mind, leaving me shaking in fear…and something else I wasn’t ready to admit to just yet.
“Go home,” he ordered.
I blinked, looking to my left and right to be sure he was talking to me.
Since I didn’t see anyone else around me, I decided he was talking to me, but I just couldn’t get my legs to cooperate out of fear.
Not to mention that I would have to walk through the lot of them to get to my house.
When I didn’t move fast enough, he issued the order again, only this time it was biting.
“Go. Home,” he snapped.
I turned on my heel and started walking, coming to a sudden stop when Doogan still refused to move.
“Mother of God,” I whispered.  “Come on Doog,” I whispered frantically.  “Let’s go.”
He did move, just not in the correct direction.
No, he walked straight up to Griffin and licked his hand, a hand that was stuck out, not in invitation to approach, but instead to stop the dog from getting too close to him.
“Can’t you control your fuckin’ dog?” He grated out angrily.
Tears were stinging my eyes, because, by that point, I had the attention of not just Griffin, but the whole freakin’ lot of them.
My heart was beating frantically in my chest as they watched me, and I just knew that if I didn’t get the hell out of there I’d get the hell beaten out of me…or worse.
“Where do you live?”  Griffin asked, taking a hold of Doogan’s leash.
It slipped from my hands, and I watched in helpless horror as it did.
And what did Doogan do?
He freakin’ followed him!
“Umm,” I whispered.  “Three duplexes down from here.”
“Be back,” Griffin said as he took my hand in his free one and started to walk me back to my house.
The men returned their stares on the man they were circling, and I glanced over my shoulder just in time to see one of the big ones kick the poor guy on the ground next to his feet.
He didn’t say a word, and neither did I.
I was too scared.
What if he beat the shit out of me?
Raped me?
What if…
“I’m not going to hurt you,” Griffin growled, interrupting my inner diatribe.
“I know,” I lied.
He snorted.  “Stop shaking.  I said I wouldn’t harm you.  I’m a cop.”
Yeah, but good cops didn’t beat the shit out of people in the dark of night.
I’m a married mother of three. My kids are all under 5, so I can assure you that they are a handful. I’ve been with my paramedic husband now for ten years, and we’ve produced three offspring that are nothing like us. I live in the greatest state in the world, Texas.

That’s exactly what happens when she traps him into a marriage he wants nothing to do with, saddling him with a kid that he knows doesn’t deserve to be in a world like his.
